Speaker 1:
One major problem people may have is with snoring. It may seem harmless enough, but it can be a red flag for a more serious problem called sleep apnea. This can cause heart attack or strokes. Snoring occurs when the tongue falls to the back of the throat, forcing air through a small opening. Sleep apnea occurs when the airway is completely blocked. To solve this problem with a 96% success rate, I make my patients a tap appliance, which holds the lower jaw downward and forward preventing the airway from collapsing. Impressions of a patient’s mouth are sent to the lab to fabricate the tap appliance. A tap appliance is similar to an athletic mouth guard. It’s very comfortable and I wear one every night. I have always provided the finest, general cosmetic and restorative dentistry for all of my patients. My goal is to change lives one smile at a time.
