Bad Breath

Are you worried about bad breath?

In keeping with the latest advances in dental technology, my staff and I have recently completed advanced training in the early detection, treatment and elimination of halitosis and gum disease.

We have added two new pieces of equipment to our office, the Halimeter and the Periotemp, representing the most up to date means of screening for halitosis and gum disease.

The Halimeter measures levels of volatile sulfur compounds, the agents primarily responsible for halitosis, and periodontal disease.

The Periotemp, a special computerized thermometer for your gums, is used to check to see if there are "hot spots" in your mouth. These hot spots are locations of elevated temperature that warn of the potential for disease before you are aware of any problem. Using a color monitor, audio system, and computer printout, the Periotemp painlessly enables us to evaluate the health of your gums and select the most effective treatment for prevention or correction.

We have and will always do routine periodontal screenings as part of your normal dental exam. The Halimeter and the Periotemp go beyond this level of routine screening.
